The mission of ARTreach is to support the development and delivery of quality art programs to underserved communities; including children at risk, special needs groups, senior citizens, elderly and disabled. The organization trains professional artists and volunteers to deliver programs that support education, juvenile justice, health and human services. ARTreach works in partnership with non-profit organizations, social service agencies, school districts and government entities to serve vulnerable populations.
ARTreach recognizes the essential role the arts play in enhancing the lives of people in the community, and the impact the arts have on a child’s education and successful future. ARTreach believes that a thriving community ensures that its residents, and all children have access to an array of performing and visual arts education, opportunities and events that will contribute to overall development, health, and improved quality of life.
Values: creativity, artistic integrity and capabilities to deliver the highest impact art programs in the field of health and human service
ARTreach works towards achieving our mission by focusing on three areas of strategic action:
- Bring the highest quality art programs to the underprivileged and the underserved populations in Houston and surrounding Fort Bend County area targeting: children at risk; troubled youth; children and adults with special needs; senior citzens and the elderly, and document the positive outcomes to support sustained funding.
- Provide an array of performing and visual arts events and community presentations that contribute to improving the quality of life for residents in underserved communities.
- Advocate for State of Texas policy developments that increase the visibility and stability of the arts and arts education in Texas thereby enhancing the education curriculum and overall quality of life in Texas.
ARTreach serves as a nationally recognized resource sharing organization with programs designed and outcomes reported to support expanding outreach serving vulnerable populations across the State.
“Many people are hearing about the great work being done through ARTreach. This is why many community leaders and local businesses are very proud of their involvement in the success of this outreach organization. ARTreach is a community supported nonprofit operating on a modest budget that puts its resources directly into outreach programs that benefit underserved populations. Their advocacy campaigns and willingness to share their resources is clearly advancing the arts education movement state wide, opening doors and paving the way for this small grassroots nonprofit from Katy, Texas to have a tremendous impact on a very important population!” Senator Glenn Hegar (Texas)
